In the prestigious Responsible Tourism Awards 2025 – Southeast Asia, organized by the International Center for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) in Cavite, Philippines on June 18, 2025. There are 6 categories in this Award, and Maesa Hotel won the Silver Award in the INCREASING LOCAL SOURCING RESPONSIBLE TOURISM AWARDS Category.

The Responsible Tourism Awards SEA 2025 is a prestigious award event for tourism industry players who not only pursue business success, but are also committed to sustainable practices in their operations.
This award appreciates initiatives that have a real impact on environmental conservation, local community empowerment, and sustainable economic development.
As part of a series of responsible tourism awards in the Southeast Asia region, the Responsible Tourism Awards SEA 2025 aims to identify and recognize business actors who contribute to preserving culture and strengthening community welfare in a sustainable manner.
The event was held in conjunction with the closing of the ICRTH 2025 conference, and was open to various tourism industry players such as tour operators, hotels, tourist destinations, community-based tourism (CBT) communities, and development institutions.

Maesa Hotel successfully passed the rigorous selection along with hundreds of participants from all over Southeast Asia. Each application was assessed by an international jury consisting of leading experts and academics, including Prof. Hiram Ting, Prof. Harold Goodwin, Assoc. Prof. Lenny Yusrini, Manisha Pande, Kevin Phun, and Dr. Vo Thi Nga.
The assessment focused on innovation, measurable real impact, and program sustainability. There were 24 regional winners announced, each awarded Gold, Silver, or One to Watch.

This recognition also confirms Maesa Hotel’s position as a pioneer in sustainable tourism practices at the local and regional levels. Through a program entitled “Empowerment of BUMDES & UMKM Ponorogo” and the “Saving Water” movement, Maesa Hotel has demonstrated best practices in:
Training and mentoring hundreds of BUMDES, UMKM and youth administrators of Ponorogo Regency through hospitality training, use of local products in hotel operations, and business digitalization.
Implementation of cultural events that promote local wisdom to increase local product transactions through exhibitions linked to cultural attractions, such as the Reyog Street Carnival.
Launched the CSR program MENABUNG WATER together with the Maesa Group Menabung Air Foundation, including planting Biopores and public education, in order to maintain water availability for the future.
The spirit of collaboration with various parties (the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Ponorogo Regency, the Department of Community and Village Empowerment of Ponorogo Regency, Tourism Ecosystem, UMKM, Youth and the Maesa Group Menabung AIR Foundation) and a culture-based approach, Maesa Hotel creates a strong local economic ecosystem, while responding to the challenges of climate change through a practical and innovative approach.
