Maesa Hotel

Ponorogo, June 10, 2025. As a form of concern for the environment, Maesa Hotel, which is part of the Menabung Air Foundation, held a socialization activity entitled “Menabung Air” at SMAN 1 Balong, Ponorogo, Tuesday (10/6).

This activity is part of Maesa Hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program which aims to educate the younger generation about the importance of preserving nature and caring for the environment. Through educational and applicative methods, students gain a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of biopores as a solution to maintaining groundwater availability and reducing the potential for flooding during the rainy season.

A total of 150 students in grades 10 and 11 of SMAN 1 Balong took part in this activity. They were enthusiastic in participating in this activity which was divided into two sessions, namely the delivery of educational material about the importance of saving water using biopores as a water absorption method, as well as direct practice in making biopore holes in the school area.

In the activity, there was a teacher’s initiative to divide students into small groups to plant biopores. A total of 35 biopore holes were successfully planted at various points in the school area, assisted by teachers as student companions and a team from Maesa Hotel.
The Principal of SMAN 1 Balong, Sri Mulyani, expressed her high appreciation for this program. According to her, this activity is very useful and is a positive environmental education event for the younger generation.

“The socialization activity held by Maesa Hotel is very useful and involves the younger generation to participate in saving our environment, especially related to water availability. We from the school and the children are happy to be directly involved in water saving activities through planting biopores,” she said.
She also hopes that this activity can continue and inspire more parties to care about the environment.
“My hope for the future is that the younger generation will continue to care about environmental conditions, especially in saving water availability in the dry season, so that water remains available. And in the rainy season, we can prevent flooding. Hopefully this activity will provide blessings and benefits for the school community and the surrounding environment,” she added.
This Water Saving Movement is a concrete step of collaboration between the private sector and education in educating and mobilizing the younger generation to help protect the earth and preserve the environment. With small steps such as planting biopores, it is hoped that the impact will be great for the future of the environment.
